To all LEOFF1 retirees,
Because of the State's budget problems, it appears the LEOFF 2 pension fund is facing potential cuts in the States’ contributions to their plan in order to avoid this possibility.
The WSCFF and WACOPS had submitted several alternatives to the Governor.
And guess what?? They are willing to throw LEOFF 1 under the bus again. One of the proposed alternatives was the merger of plans 1 and 2 pension plans. They still have not given up on this option which we vigorously oppose.
The LEOFF 1 Coalition stands ready to protect your interests!! We are closely monitoring this situation and will do everything in our power to prevent this proposed merger.
In the mean time, be prepared to contact your Legislators once again if this option emerges as a remedy for LEOFF 2 shortfalls.
