LEOFF 1 — Bill 6563

We could see less law enforcement officers and fire fighters on the streets, if Senate Bill 6563 passes. The bill would allow the merger of Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters (LEOFF) 1 to merge with LEOFF 2. The Senate wants to use the predicted surplus cash from the pension funds to balance the budget.

Mark Curtis and Dave Perry are board members of the LEOFF 1 Coalition. They represent over 8,000 retired law enforcement officers, firefighters and their widows.

They spoke earlier to KGY’s Kevin Huffer.

Members of LEOFF 2 were unavailable for comment to KGY Radio News at this time.
