Next LEOFF 2 Board Meeting Concerning HB 2097 - August 24, 2011
A number of LEOFF 1 people heard that the LEOFF 2 Board was meeting on June 15th at the State Investment Board office location. Attendance by LEOFF 1 people was voluminous to hear what they had to say about HB2097. The Board said they did not create the Bill, someone else did. The main point learned by us is that LEOFF 2 will continue to use HB2097 to intend to merge LEOFF 1, like it or not. The next LEOFF 2 Board meeting is August 24, 2011 at the State Investment Board office located at 2100 Evergreen Park Drive SW, Suite 100 (first floor), Olympia WA 98502 at 9:00 am for a full hearing by LEOFF 2 to study the Merger Bill. The Office of Financial Management will also be doing a study, as is the State Actuary. We need to monitor what we can during the Legislative Interim and thank the legislators that were on our side during the last session.
Any one expecting to attend the next LEOFF 2 meeting should come early to pay for a parking spot to avoid parking citations. Expect a number of LEOFF 2 people to also attend.
